What new survey says about the popularity of voice search in 2019?

Several studies have been conducted, and statistics have been produced about the popularity and usage of voice search in 2019. According to the new study, voice search is going downhill when it comes to people using it as a mode of searching for information online. A newly released study from Stone Temple says that voice search secured a fourth place when nearly 1000 people were asked what method they use to find information on their phone. 

 

They were asked, “When I need to search information on my phone, I am most likely to choose.”

1. Voice search
2. Search by typing question into search engine apps
3. Type the question into my phone’s search window
4. Use a mobile browser including Google Chrome or Safari
5. Ask a friend via messaging app or text

The results are as follows:

Most of the people preferred using mobile browsers for searching information on a phone, followed by a search engine app grabbing the second place, and the third top choice of people is the built-in search window in the phone.

On the contrary, voice search was the third most preferred choice of people for conducting searches on mobile in 2018.

However, the previous year, voice search fell behind search engine apps, and ahead of the search window on the phone. Most importantly, as per the study, more people preferred voice search for conduction searches on their phones.

As per the 2019 search, nearly 25% of people selected voice search as the most preferred search than almost 15% in 2018. But, in the final result of the study, voice search got fourth place.

Therefore, this data shows that people who use voice search the most for conducting searches consider it as their top preference over others. Contradictory, not many people like to engage in voice search, as per the study.

Only 20% of respondents prefer using voice command with online search

The participants were asked, “which type of application they control with voice commands?”

Amongst the 11 options, such as making a call, get directions, text, set reminder, play music, make notes, online search, post on social media, make a purchase, control smart home, don’t use voice search, and other, nearly 20% of people have used voice command for online search.

While, many people use voice commands for texting, making calls, getting directions, setting reminders, and playing music.
